"WHAT ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR, MAN?" Oversized T-Shirt

This graphic is a direct evolution of détournement—the Situationist practice of hijacking icons of capitalist culture (the American Cowboy) and rerouting them to deliver a subversive message.

Originally a 1960s French pamphlet, Tony "translated" the cowboy’s speech bubbles into a recruitment call for a singer for The Durutti Column, forever linking the Wild West of Manchester to the avant-garde of Paris.

Far more than a simple flyer, the Cowboy became a recurring ghost in the Factory machine, appearing on posters, stationery, and inner sleeves. It signaled that Factory was not just a label, but a revolutionary cell.
